As a conservative, I've been called just about everything you can call someone who believes in self reliance, responsibility, and liberty. I've been a "grinch", a "jerk", an "unsympathetic prick"; I was even once called a "miserly bastard". I've been labeled "lucky", "fortunate", "from a good family" and "undeserving" of what I have. Every insult hurled at me has bounced off of a hide that is pretty thick due to my father's advice growing up. He said to me, "you can ask for handouts, take charity, or even steal from others, but know that the only thing you have done is make it easier for the next time you fail at something to just give up and ask for more help, or steal something else until you get caught...and that makes you a bad citizen." HUGE words that to this day keep me motivated to get ahead. The real depth of his words are that he equates charity and welfare with stealing. How is it not, if the welfare comes from compulsary taxes. Greece is in the middle of an ordeal that will see thousands of people kicked off the dole when the money dries up; stories of kids being dropped off at orphanages, or street corners. And then...we get this:
Greece adds PEDOPHILIA, KLEPTOMANIA and EXHIBITIONISM to their list of DISABILITIES that get state aid. WTF. "John, yeah it's Pete...I can't come to work anymore, I need to get my state aid so I can stay home...what's that? Oh, I like having sex with kids...so I can't come to work." ARE YOU KIDDING? Let that country go down the drain, it's disgusting that their budget problems STILL aren't sinking in...don't they know that they're broke...wait a minute.
Here we are in the USA, budget problems, wars, corruption, crony capitalism, gun running to drug cartels...and we (Notice I don't say 'obama') WE are allowing the Repubicans and Democrats in Congress to lie to us, steal from us, and tell us at the end of the day that we need to raise taxes in order to survive or pay social security. How do they have the nerve to say this, use racial lines to divide us, then actually call our homes and ask for donations to help them get reelected 12 months from now?
If you aren't awakened by this, then you deserve what comes to you. Vote for Romney, or Obama, or Obomney...I don't care if you do...but when you cry about high cost of health care and no doctors who want to be in the business of socialized gov't run medical field...I will be the stingey niggardly bastard you thought I was, because you were stupid enough to believe that any president can actually control the country. You can pass prohibition, we'll get around it. You can mandate 100 mpg for all cars, we'll get around it. You can outlaw our light bulbs, we'll get around it. We are resilient, we are flush with cash, and we will hide it, just like Anne Frank.
You, the American, you allowed the Tea Party to become a punchline, then had it drop into obscurity when the likes of Santorum and Romney can claim they are in the fold. Nobody in the media challenging Romney on his past...because he's electable? Ask Perot if Bush was electable...then when I, along with countless tin foil hat wearers put that idiot Obama back in the white house to show the country that we will not eat the slop you serve us, you can get irate with us, say "Anyone but Obama", but then shoot down every one of them until we get to the "Establishment darling"...no way, I may have a tin foil hat on, but it isn't a dunce hat. You vote for Romney, I have to live with myself.
So what is the issue? I say it is leadership. The "leaders" of the republican party are Boener, Karl Rove, Mitch McConnell, and countless others that should have been dismissed from the party to make way for real leadership, but since the Republican party has a single file system for letting members run for office, I assume we'll see Santorum, Huntsman, Bachman et al in four years...and whoever lasts the longest against Mitt will be next in line. This is your choice, this is your freedom. You should be scared to death that the next major movement in this country isn't Occupy, it's Abandon. How many producers are going to agree to live as the target to the growing "needy" who call themselves the "99%"? Here is an excerpt from my new favorite book, The Law, by Frederic Bastiat...you NEED to read this, it is 90 pages or so.
"The Basis for Stable Government,
"Law is justice. In this proposition we represent to ourselves a simple immovable Government. I defy anyone to tell me whence the thought of a revolution, an insurrection, or a simple disturbance could arise against a public force confined to the repression of INJUSTICE. Under such a system, there would be more well-being, and this well-being would be more equally distributed; and as to the sufferings inseparable from humanity, no one would think of accusing the Government of them, for it would be as innocent of them as it is of the variations of the temperature. Have the people ever been known to rise against the court of appeals, or assail the justices of the peace, for the sake of claiming the rate of wages, gratuitous credit, instruments of labor, the advantages of the tariff, or the social workshop? They know perfectly well that these combinations are beyond the jurisdiction of the justices of the peace, and they would soon learn that they are not within the jurisdictions of the law. But if the law were to be made upon the principles of fraternity, if it were to be proclaimed that from it proceed all benefits and all evils, then it is responsible for every individual grievance and for every social inequality- then you open the door to an endless succession of complaints, irritations, troubles and revolutions."
yeah...that's from a French guy in 1848 French Revolution times, when France was heading toward Socialism. 160 years later, and we haven't learned...but the Greeks are learning the hard way. Our gov't was set up to be always in check...tell me, who is checking the authority of the Executive? Congress has no testicles...and they represent us. So we will...eventually, learn the hard way too.
